KV Mechelen

The KV Mechelen is a Belgian football club from Mechelen, which was founded in 1904. The club colors are yellow and red.

The club was four times Belgian champion and had his greatest success in the late 1980s with the financial support of John Cordier. Coach this time was Aad de Mos. The highlight was winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1988. The final in Strasbourg was won against Ajax Amsterdam 1-0. 2002 KV Mechelen got serious financial problems. A deletion from the register of associations could be prevented by a fundraising campaign by Mark Uytterhoeven, Piet den Boer and Van Hoof Fi. However, the club was relegated to the Third Division. In the 2004/05 season the team champion and rose to the Second Division. In the season 2006/07 KV Mechelen came 2nd in the second division and managed in the promotion round to return to the First Division.
