Kvelertak (Norwegian, stranglehold ') is the debut album of the same name Norwegian rock band. It was released on June 21, 2010 by Indie Recordings. On 15 March 2011, the North American edition appeared with some bonus tracks, including live versions of the BBC Sessions of the band.

Formation and style

The album was produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge. It was taken in spring 2010 in the GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts. The cover illustration is by John Dyer Baizley of Baroness. Stylistically, it was described as " bastard of Wolfmother, Turbonegro, Satyricon and Gorillaz " and summarized with the slogan " Necro'n'Roll ".

After an appearance in the Telenor Arena in Oslo on 24 June 2011, the band from the record company and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, which occurred on the night headlining a gold disc by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry for more than 15,000, was sold albums presented in Norway. In addition, the band in the categories " Best Newcomer " and " Best Rock " was honored at the 39th Spellemannprisen. The band also received a scholarship in February 2011 Statoil for promising newcomers in the amount of approximately U.S. $ 180,000.

Reception

In the magazine Rock Hard forgave Volkmar Weber nine out of ten. He wrote that the album "rocks heavy incomprehensible, is varied and above all cool and very dirty. "
