Kvelertak

Kvelertak (Norwegian for ' stranglehold ') is a Norwegian metal band from Stavanger, whose lyrics are written exclusively in Norwegian. The band's style mixes hardcore punk with influences of Rock ' n ' Roll and Black Metal.

Band History

Soon after Kvelertak had founded in 2007, they gained in Norway with its West Coast Demo Holocaust was reasonably well known, have even played on the radio and earned a reputation as a good live band. Still without a record deal in 2009 they were allowed to even play at Roskilde Festival.

In June 2010, the debut album Kvelertak appeared on the label Indie Recordings. Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou took consideration of the production, the artwork was designed by Baroness frontman John Baizley. After an extensive tour of Europe in 2010 - including Converge and Kylesa - Kvelertak have been confirmed for the summer of 2011 for various European music festivals.

On March 22, 2013, the second album Meir appeared. The artwork was once again created by Baizley. Thus, they managed not only No. 1 on the Norwegian album charts, but were successful internationally. The album was awarded the Spellemannprisen in the category of Metal.
