Kydex

Kydex is the brand name of a product line of thermoplastic materials. The acrylic / PVC polyblend was developed in 1965 by Rohm & Haas, since 1987, the rights belong to the U.S. Kleerdex Company. The material is characterized by high strength and hardness (over 90 HRR ) as well as good chemical and fire resistance.

Kydex is mainly used as an alternative to leather in the production of holsters for firearms and as a vaginal material for knives. In addition, Kydex comes inter alia the vehicle and aircraft or in the packaging and housing production for use. Kydexplatten are available in various colors, thicknesses and surface structures.

After slow heating to about 160-200 ° C in an oven or with the heat gun, the plates are pressed into shape. After cooling, the edges can be ground and polished, and further processing such as lamination or welding is possible.
