Kyknos (tomato sauce)

Cycnus is a manufacturer of tomato paste and tomato pastes of the Peloponnese.

In order to achieve a consistent flavor as possible without technical aids, all the tomatoes from the region of Ilia originate in the Peloponnese and grown according to the specifications of the company Cycnus, which also provides the seed.

History

The company was founded in 1911 by Michael and Kostas Manousakis. 1914, production had reached 100,000 cans per year. Kostas ' son Dimitris developed in 1928 a concentration method for tomato paste, which enabled the company to break into the Greek market. To date, only different tomato products are made.

The expansion of large food companies with more flexible production and increased product selection and adherence to old forms of production has made the company from a local wholesale supplier to a traditional niche providers. Even the packaging in two color printed corrugated tin cans is virtually unchanged since the 1920s.
