Kyle Calder

Kyle Calder ( born January 5, 1979 in Mannville, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since February 2012 at the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL under contract.

Career

Kyle Calder began his career in 1995 in the Canadian Junior Football League WHL with the Regina Pats, but could not convince in his first year. In his second season he played more and was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 in the fifth round at position 130. He remained two years in the WHL and was able to increase his points total from year to year. During the 1998/99 season he moved within the WHL Kamloops Blazers to.

In the summer of 1999, he received his first professional contract and the Cleveland Lumberjacks joined them, which were the IHL farm team of the Chicago Blackhawks at the time. For eight games he has been appointed to the NHL squad 1999/2000 and shot in time also his first goal. The season 2000/ 01 he spent most of it in the NHL, but also played for the AHL farm team Norfolk Admirals. From the autumn of 2001, he was an integral part of the Chicago Blackhawks. While the NHL season 2004/ 05 failed because of the lockout, he joined Södertälje SK of the Swedish Elitserien on.

The 2005/06 season was the most successful season for him with 26 goals and 33 assists. His contract was indeed extended by one year by the Blackhawks in the summer of 2006, however, he was transferred before the start of the season to the Philadelphia Flyers. Philadelphia had a miserable season 2006/ 07 and Kyle Calder did not bring the benefits of the previous year. In February 2007 he was transferred for Lasse Kukkonen and a third-round draft pick back to the Chicago Blackhawks, but only a few hours later sent him for Jason Williams to the Detroit Red Wings. In the remaining games of the regular season, he was able to convince by good performances, but in the playoffs he drove in 13 games with only one assist and was even dropped from the squad.

In the summer of 2007 he was awarded a new contract for which he stood in the following two years of service with the Los Angeles Kings. In October 2009, Calder was taken by the Anaheim Ducks under contract, for which he signed a contract until the end of June 2010. The majority of the following season, spent the links Sagittarius at the Toronto Marlies in the AHL, for the Ducks he was in 14 games in action and scored two points. His expiring contract was not renewed in Anaheim in the summer of 2010.

In October 2010, Calder signed a contract with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL. After five games and seven points for the Condors, he was obliged in January 2011 of Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League. In May of the same year his contract was dissolved at Barys again. In the following season the Canadians was mainly vertragslos before he entered into a contractual relationship with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL in February 2012.

Internationally

Calder represented his country at the U20 World Junior Championship in 1999 and the World Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2006. During the U20 Junior World Championship in 1999, he scored two goals and six assists. In the final match he defeated with Canada against Russia and won the silver medal. In the 2003 World Cup winger contributed two points for Canada in on winning the World Cup.
