Kyle Quincey

Kyle Quincey ( born August 12, 1985 in Kitchener, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender since February 2012.

Career

Kyle Quincey began his career in 2002 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. After his first year he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round at position 132 in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003. At the beginning of the season 2003/ 04 he moved within the OHL to the Mississauga IceDogs. There he proved in the following two years, his qualities on the offensive, but also that he dominates the hard physical game. In 2004, he failed with the IceDogs only in the finale of the OHL playoffs.

Before the season 2005/ 06 he joined the Grand Rapids Griffins, which act as a farm team of Detroit in the American Hockey League. Quincey played a good debut season with 33 points scorer in the playoffs, reaching the Conference Finals. He also went to his first race for Detroit in the National Hockey League.

In the game year 2006/ 07 he completed a slightly weaker season in Grand Rapids and came again for the Detroit Red Wings are used, for which he scored his first NHL goals. On the basis of injury-related failures in the defense during the playoffs, he became an integral part of the team and went with the Red Wings to the finals one of the Western Conference.

In autumn 2007 Qunicey competed during the training camp to a place in the NHL squads, but broke his hand and played most of the season 2007/ 08 at the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL, but where it does not build on the achievements of previous years could. In February 2008, he was appointed to the season for the first time in the NHL squad, as the Red Wings defense had injury problems again. With 20 points, the lowest value of his AHL career, he eventually ended his season in Grand Rapids and joined for the playoffs the Red Wings, where, however, he no longer was used, when they won the Stanley Cup.

Before the season 2008/09 Quincey was again not recommend it for a place in the NHL squad and should be sent back on the waiver list in the AHL farm team for, but the Los Angeles Kings committed him from the waiver. After a fairly successful season in California with 38 points in 72 games, he was transferred during the off-season along with Tom Price Sing and a fifth round draft pick in exchange for Ryan Smyth to Denver for the Colorado Avalanche.

In his second year in Denver, the defenders drew 11 December 2010 in a game against the Washington Capitals to a shoulder injury. This injury required surgery, which excluded him for the rest of the NHL season 2010/11 from the game. After two and a half years the team of Avalanche Quincey was delivered to the Tampa Bay Lightning on 21 February 2012 in exchange for Steve Downie, who transferred him immediately to a first-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 and Sébastien Piché to the Detroit Red Wings.

In October 2012, he signed on the basis of the lockout before the start of the NHL season 2012/13 a contract with the Denver Cutthroats of the Central Hockey League. For the newly founded before the season CHL team the defender ran in 12 games before the employment was terminated in early December.
