The University of Education, Kyoto (Japanese京都 教育 大学, Kyōto Kyoiku daigaku; engl Kyoto University of Education, in short. Kyōkyō (京 教) or Kyōkyōdai (京 教 大) ) is a public educational college in Japan. It is located in Fukakusa - Fujinomorichō, Fushimi- ku, Kyoto.

History

The University of Education, Kyoto was founded in 1949 by the merger of two state normal schools. The two were:

  • The Normal School Kyoto (京都 师范学校, Kyoto shihan Gakko ) and
  • Youth Normal School Kyoto (京都 青年 师范学校, Kyōto his shihan Gakko, in Kyōtamba ).

Normal School Kyoto

The Normal School was founded in 1876 as the Kyoto prefectural Normal School Kyoto (京都 府 师范学校, Kyoto -fu shihan Gakko ) was founded. The school was originally located near the former imperial palace. Youth Normal School Kyoto

Founded as the Youth Normal School in 1926 as the Kyoto prefectural training institute for teachers at the vocational supplementary schools. In 1935, when the new school type His Gakko (青年 学校, dt " Youth School " ) was created, it was a training college for teachers of the youth schools.

In 1944 it became the State Normal School Youth Kyoto. The College of Education was established in 1949 as the College of Liberal Arts Kyoto (京都 学 芸 大学, Kyōto Gakugei daigaku ) opened.
