Kyriacos Triantaphyllides

Kyriacos Triantaphyllides ( born September 3, 1944 in Palaichori ) is a Cypriot politician ( Progressive Party of the Working People ) and Member of the European Parliament.

Life

Kyriacos Triantaphyllides attended from 1964 to 1966, the Victoria University of Wellington ( New Zealand) and ended it with the Bachelor of Arts. A year later he received his degree in Teaching at Teachers College, Christchurch. From 1968 to 1970 he was employed as a teacher of English and social studies at the New Zealand School Wanganui.

He then moved his residence to Cyprus and was from 1971 to 1973 at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in charge of industrial relations. In the years 1974 to 1982, he held the post of chief of staff of the Cypriot asbestos Works Ltd..

He moved back into the civil service from 1982 to 1992 as the senior official responsible for public administration and staff from 1992 to 1996 as an administrative employee. In the Jahren1999/2000 he was Deputy Head of Division for Migration and 2000-2004 General at the Ministry of Interior. He also served from December 1996 to April 2000 administrative head of the district Famagusta.

Since 1990 he is a member of the Executive Board of the Committee on Local and Regional Self-Government in the Council of Europe Council of Europe committees and representatives of Cyprus since 2003. From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Assembly of European coastal regions, and representative of the Ministry of Interior at congresses and meetings at European and international level.

Since the European elections of 2004, he is Member of the European Parliament. He is a member of the Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left. In Parliament, he was from 2004 to 2009 Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council and a member of the Committee on Regional Development and the Conference of Delegation Chairmen. Since the European elections of 2009, he is Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council and serves on the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and the Delegation to the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. As a deputy, he is the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection.
