Kyros Vassaras

Kyros Vassaras (Greek Κύρος Βασάρας, born 1 February 1966) is a former Greek football referees.

Life

Vassaras is FIFA referee since 1998. His first international match in 1999, he headed the encounter between Austria and San Marino. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he led the final of the men between Argentina and Paraguay. In December 2007, he was nominated as one of 12 referees of the European Football Championship 2008.

The first game under his leadership was the game of the Group A match between Czech Republic and Portugal (1:3) on 11 June 2008 in Geneva. On 16 June 2008, he headed the Group B match between Poland and Croatia ( 0-1) in Klagenfurt. In these games, he was supported by his assistants Dimitris Bozatzidis and Dimiris Saraidaris.

Vassaras Cyrus has announced his resignation as arbitrator in Greece because of its severe sports injury on April 21, 2009.
