Kyushu Railway Company

The Kyushu Railway Company (Jap.九州 旅客 鉄 道 株式会社, Kyushu ryokaku tetsudō kabushiki gaisha, in short:九州JR, JR Kyushu ) is one of the seven successor in 1987 privatized Japanese National Railways. It operates the formerly state-owned power on the island of Kyūshū.

Showpiece of the company is the Kyushu Shinkansen, opened in 2004, a fast train line between Shin- Yatsushiro and Kagoshima Chūō. By 2010, this route should be extended beyond Kumamoto to Hakata and thus connected to the rest of the Shinkansen network.
