The University of Kyushu (in Japanese九州 大学, Kyushu daigaku, in short: Kyūdai (九大)) is one of the most prestigious national universities in Japan. The main campus is located in Hakozaki, Higashi -ku, Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū.

History

The history of the University of Kyushu (also: Kyushu University ) goes back to a Sanseikan (赞 生 馆, ie, " house for life safety " ) called in 1867 by the Princely House Fukuoka ( Kuroda -han ) based medical school. This school was built in 1874 to a hospital, the hospital was renamed in 1877 in Fukuoka.

1903, the Medical School was Fukuoka as a branch school of the Imperial University of Kyoto (京都 帝国 大学 福冈 医科大学, Kyoto teikoku daigaku Fukuoka ika daigaku ) established with the hospital as Fukuoka Hospital. 1911 were these institutions in the Imperial University of Kyushu on (九州 帝国 大学, Kyushu teikoku daigaku ).
