L'Année épigraphique

L' Année épigraphique (abbreviated AE) is an annual publication on Latin epigraphy.

It was founded in 1888 by René Cagnat, who was then Chair of " Epigraphy and Roman Antiquity " at the Collège de France, and Jean -Guillaume Feignon as assistant epigraphists. Until 1964 it was united with the Revue Archaeological since it appears as a separate publication in Publisher " Presses universitaires de France ». L' Année épigraphique systematically shows annually all newly discovered and published inscriptions of Roman antiquity, usually with impression of the text. It is also reported on new readings and literature already known inscriptions. Periodically index volumes appear.

The L' Année épigraphique represents an important tool of research on ancient Rome and completed in a similar manner as the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum in the field of Greek epigraphy concluded Inschriftencorpora as the corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum.
