The airfield L' Aquila Preturo (it.: Aeroporto di L' Aquila Preturo " Aeroporto dei Parchi " ) is located in the Italian region of Abruzzo, about eight kilometers west-northwest of the city center of L' Aquila, near the village of Preturo. The airfield is used by general aviation and regional airlines.
Infrastructure
The airfield has a north-south trending, approximately 1,400 meters long paved runway, and runway (18/ 36). East of the railway is a ramp with a small reception building, in the southeast, an air rescue base.
History
The airfield was built in 1968 and operated until 2009 by the local Aero Club. As of April 2009, the airfield was used by a major earthquake as a base of the Italian Civil Protection. For organized in L' Aquila in July 2009 G8 Summit, the airfield was slightly expanded. After that, the city transferred the airfield a new airport operators from the Aosta Valley ( AVDA ) to bring in the intention, charter and regional airlines to L' Aquila. Air Vallée became involved in the succession to a limited extent.
