L’Oasis sacrée d’oum Lâalag

L' Oasis sacrée d' oum Lâalag located 50 km south-west of M'hamid in Morocco at the old track to Timbuktu, a few kilometers from the Algerian border.

The oasis is about 15 hectares and is considered sacred because it has the most precious wealth of the desert: water. The source is inhabited by an old folk belief of a protective soul. In the oasis there is a bivouac camp is offered in accordance with strict rules of environmentally friendly tourism. From there you can reach the high dunes of Erg Chegaga on camel or by jeep.

The oasis is part of the 123,000 -acre national park D' Iriqui, which was founded in 1994. There are around Dorkasgazellen, African ostriches, Barbary sheep, oryx, hyena and collar bustards.
