L'oncle Paul

Uncle Paul (Les belles histoires de l' Oncle Paul ) is a published 1951-1982 French- Belgian comic series.

Action

Were usually portrayed historical events. These were integrated into a small frame story, in which the pipe-smoking Uncle Paul his two nephews, the events portrayed knowledgeable and vividly.

Background

On behalf of the World Press by Georges Trois Fontaines Jean -Michel Charlier started this educational series in 1951 in Spirou. The portrait of Uncle Paul and his two nephews came from Victor Hubinon and was at the beginning and end of each short story inserted. The appearance has been adjusted over time by the respective artist. The short stories were usually four pages, but could also be five or six pages. Eddy Paape, Dino Attanasio, René Follet, Jean Graton, Gérald Forton MiTacq and characterized the first years. Many young artist got their start here.

In addition to Jean -Michel Charlier, other authors such as René Goscinny or Dino Attanasio could deliver individual contributions. Octave Joly, since 1951 it has been the sole author and wrote in 1954 and 1982, more than a thousand short stories. Pierre Dupuis took over the responsibilities of the series in 1968 by the World Press and led them on with Arthur Piroton, Jose Lopez Fernandez, Juan Manuel Cicuendez and Claude Pascal. How far could put their skills to the test in this series young artists. In the years 1980 and 1982, the length of the stories limited to one page.

Publications

The short stories were published in 1951-1960 as Les belles histoires de l' Oncle Paul in Spirou and published in 1960 to 1980 as Les plus belles histoires de l' Oncle Paul. Between 1980 and 1982, the series was entitled Histoire en mille morceaux. A selection of short stories were first published by Dupuis in thirteen and later in the collection L' histoire en bandes dessinées in eight albums. Since 2009, the publishing house La vache qui Medite a total output appears.

For the first time in German, the series was reprinted in various publication series of Bastion in the years 1971 and 1972. Between 1976 and 1978, the series was published in several editions of Fix and Foxi in the Caucasus. Not have any albums have been published in German language.
