L. Dana Wilgress

Leolyn Dana Wilgress ( born October 20, 1892 in Vancouver, † July 21, 1969 in Ottawa ) was a Canadian ambassador.

Life

Wilgress occurred in 1914 in the Trade Commissioner Service ( Foreign Service ). Then he was accredited in Russia and Romania. From 1922 to 1932 he was Canadian Trade Commissioner in Hamburg. In 1932 he became head of the Commercial Intelligence Service, Ottawa. In the 1930s he was an influential trade negotiators. In 1940 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. In 1942 he was sent as an envoy to Moscow; 1944, the legation was upgraded to an embassy.

From June 1952 to August 1953 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister of Canada.
