La Bazoge (Sarthe)

La Bazoge is a municipality with 3642 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in France. It is located in the department of Sarthe Pays de la Loire region. Its inhabitants are called Bazogiens.

Geography

La Bazoge is around 10 km north of Le Mans and 34 km south of Alencon. The Sarthe flows 2 km to the east.

Demographics

The inhabitants of La Bazoge has increased from 1990 to 1999 - from about 2,750 to about 2,900. In the meantime (2007) it is about 3,570.

Rail

Between August 14, 1915, and the October 3, 1943 La Bazoge had on the narrow gauge railway Le Mans Ségrie the Compagnie des Tramways de la Sarthe connection to the railway network. Today there are the nearest railway stations in the neighboring towns of Neuville- sur -Sarthe and Le Mans.

Road

The Autoroute A11 from Le Mans to Chartres runs south and the motorway from Le Mans to Laval southwest is 8 km, 5 km away. Directly east at the site passes the Autoroute A28 from Le Mans to Rouen.

Partnerships

The Lower Saxon community Mart field ( Diepholz ) has for several years an active partnership with La Bazoge. The same is true for the English community Bardney.
