La Biolle

La Biolle is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.

Geography

La Biolle is located on 386 m above sea level. M., near Aix -les- Bains, about 21 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the foothills of the Alps in the south Albanais, on a gently sloping hillside to the south in the valley floor, which connects the basins of Rumilly with the Lac du Bourget, at the eastern foot of the Montagne de la Biolle.

The area of ​​13:04 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Alpine foothills. The southern boundary runs along the Deisse, which here flows in a wide valley from the northeast to the southwest and drains the area to the Lac du Bourget. From the river, the municipality's area extends northward to the adjacent Molasseplateaus and up the valley of the Albenche (page stream of Deisse ). This weak part in relief community is flanked on the west by densely forested steep slopes of the Montagne de la Biolle. On the crest of the Montagne de la Biolle that the Lac du Bourget separates from Albanais and geological forms the southern continuation of the Montagne du Gros Foug, extends the western boundary of the municipality. Neighboring communities of La Biolle are Albens in the north, Mognard in the east, Grésy -sur -Aix in the south and Brison -Saint- Innocent and Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte in the West.

History

The municipality of La Biolle was inhabited very early. In a cave near Savigny traces have been found from the Neolithic period. Also from the Roman period attest various remains ( wall foundations, inscription ). The name of La Biolle goes back to the Latin word betula (birch). In the Middle Ages, the area belonged to the lords of Montfalcon.

Attractions

The parish church was built in the 19th century. The Maison Blanc Calloud with two towers dates from the 16th century and remodeled in the 18th century. From the castle Montfalcon ruins remain. The municipal area, several places of residence, namely the Château de Longefan are (originally from the 15th century, in the 18th century changed ) and the mansions of La Mollière and Roasson.

Population

With 2,200 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Biolle one of the smaller communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, a significant population increase has been recorded since the mid-1970s thanks to the beautiful residential area again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Biolle was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. In addition, there are now several companies of small and medium industries, who have settled mainly along the main road. Meanwhile, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area as well as in space Chambéry and Annecy their work.

The village has a good infrastructure. It lies on the main road N201 that runs from Chambery to Annecy. Further road links exist with Saint- Germain- la- Chambotte and Mognard. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 5 km.
