La Blanqueada
La Blanqueada is a neighborhood ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.
Location
It is located north of the city center in the central south of the department of Montevideo. La Blanqueada borders it to the south by the district Parque Batlle situated therein, Villa Dolores. Southwest is the area of Tres Cruces. In the northwest Larrañaga closes, while in the northeast Unión continues the urban area.
The center of the district is included here from the southwest clockwise starting from the formed by the following streets Border line: Avenida Dr. Manuel Albo, Avenida 8 de Octubre, Avenida Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera, Dr. Francisco Simon and Avenida Italia.
History
1811 La Blanqueada was the scene of an important part of Uruguayan history. Thus was proclaimed in a gathering to Jefe de los Orientales in the Quinta de la Paraguaya (today's Parque Central) José Artigas.

Education
In La Blanqueada are numerous schools. Sports
In La Blanqueada is the Estadio Gran Parque Central, the home stadium of the football club Nacional, was held in the July 13, 1930, the first football match at a World Cup. Opponents were at that time the United States and Belgium. Furthermore, La Blanqueada was also the venue of the first football game on Uruguayan soil between the Montevideo Rowing Club and the Montevideo Cricket Club in 1881.
Attractions
There is a monument in honor of Damaso Antonio Larrañaga ( Monumento a Damaso Antonio Larrañaga ) at the named also after him leading through the center Avenida.
