La Diligence (comics)

The stagecoach ( original French title: La Diligence ) is a comic strip from the Lucky Luke series, which was drawn by Morris and written by René Goscinny. Originally, the story was in the 1967 Franco-Belgian comics magazine Spirou, and a year later the first volume of Dargaud (a total of 32 band ) published in France.

After the counting of the Ehapa publisher (or at the beginning of Delta Publishing Company Ehapa and Dargaud ) The stagecoach of the 15th volume of the series and thus the first published by Ehapa band. The counting started with 15 because initially the volumes with smaller numbers in the coral -Verlag were available. Previously, the comic was already shown in the Caucasus and Yps as a continuation of history or Zack at coral -Verlag, however, the comic then received different names.

For the animated series Lucky Luke that band was filmed.

Lucky Luke is asked by Mr. Oakleaf, director of Wells Fargo & Co, as the stagecoaches of Wells Fargo are overly delivered many raids. Lucky Luke to accompany a stagecoach, whose coachman Hank 's Bully, and has reportedly loaded gold. Luke assumes, and so the ride with posters and in newspapers is announced. Passengers of the stagecoach are a photographer, a gold digger who owns the gold, an apparent preacher, an accountant along with his wife, and the cheater Scat Thumbs, who is forced to passenger ride. The journey is disrupted by a number of bandits, natural obstacles and Indians. When the itinerary is changed so that only know the passengers of the coach is still attacked. Thus it becomes apparent that the preacher is a scam. In Salt Lake City, he is therefore handed over to the sheriff, where another cheater must accompany the trip. Before the last station that must be achieved without an escort, Sacramento, the coach of Black Bart is successfully attacked. The photographer takes a photo of Black Bart. But since, as it turns out, there are rocks in the gold crate, and he is then surprised by Lucky Luke, he flees. The Wells Fargo has made the gold bring to Sacramento secret. Due to a laundry character which is visible in the photo, Black Bart can be identified.

Comments

On the third page two ( initialed ) photographs by Henry Wells Fargo and WF are shown. The second founder of the Wells Fargo William George Fargo is, however, so either another is meant, or there is an error.

The Abbott - Downing, which is on page 19 called as a coaching manufacturers, as well as Black Bart, actually Charles E. Bolton, there really was.

The coachman Hank Bully is based on Wallace Beery on page 31 Alfred Hitchcock is shown as a bartender, which is reminiscent of his cameo appearances in his own films. The plot has strong similarities with the Western Ringo (Original Title: Stagecoach translated, " Stagecoach " ) from 1939 on; the role of the gambler Scat Thumbs reminiscent of John Carradine, who in his role in this film has a similar reputation.

A running gag is that always re-emerging court potatoes with bacon, served to passengers at almost any of the numerous intermediate stops and is also offered at Abschlussmahl Wells Fargo in different variations as a single dish.

The coachman Hank Bully occurs again in The fiancee of Lucky Luke.
