La Equidad

Club Deportivo La Equidad Seguros, usually only briefly called La Equidad, is a football club based in Bogotá, Colombia, which currently plays in the Categoría Primera A.

History

La Equidad was founded in 1982 and takes its name from the insurance company that maintains the club. Therefore, the club is often called volksmundig Aseguradores.

La Equidad played since 1991 in the third league Primera C and from 2003 to 2006 in the Primera B. There, the club won the 2006 series championships and both half rose to the Primera A, the top league. In the first league of the club three times so far reached the runner-up. It was also La Equidad 2008 Colombian Cup winner.

Stadium

Since shortly after the ascension 2007 La Equidad plays at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo Kennedy in the suburb in the south of Bogotá. On the site was originally since 1919, the first airport in South America, the Aeropuerto de Techo. The Hippodrome is located there since 1959, was transformed in the 1970s into a football stadium compatible. Since the last closed in 2007 renovations, the stadium has a capacity of 15,000 spectators.
