La Folle Journée

La Folle Journée (French: " The great day " ) is a major classical music festival, held annually in late January / early February held in Nantes since 1995. It is considered the largest of its kind in France. The name of the festival was taken over by Beaumarchais ' La Folle Journée play ou le Mariage de Figaro, the presentation of Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro.

Initially, La Folle Journée lasted a day now, the concert program extends over five days. Founder and organizer René Martin, whose aim was to classical music almost a wide audience. At various venues found in 2007 held more than 250 concerts, which were attended by more than 100,000 people.
