La Frontera (Santa Cruz de Tenerife)

La Frontera is one of three towns in the Canary Island of El Hierro and takes the northwestern part of the island a. The valley is the administrative center of the municipality. On September 15, 2007 the former southern part of the municipality of La Frontera to independent municipality of El Pinar.

General

The village of La Frontera and his district Tigaday have lapped along El Hierro Valverde, in size and population. The Town Hall ( Ayuntamiento ) of the municipality in the district is Tigaday and since 1912 its administrative seat.

The beautiful old church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria is at the Plaza de Candelaria, from where the only road that winds Carretera General, in many serpentines to the Golf Valley. Next to the church is the direct Lucha Canaria arena. Here the Canary wrestling, Lucha Canaria is the discharged under the open sky.
