La Grande (Oregon)

La Grande is a town in Union County, Oregon, United States. Previously it was known as Brownsville. The present name can be traced back to Charles Dause, often rewrote the beauty of the area with the term La Grande.

History

The Oregon Trail went through La Grande. The first settler was Benjamin Brown, 1861.

Education

In the La Grande School District schools are located Central Elementary School, Iceland City Elementary School, Greenwood Elementary School, Middle School and La Grande La Grande High School. There is also the Eastern Oregon University is a University in La Grande.

Media

The daily local news paper called The Observer. There are a few radio stations.
