La Latette

La Latette is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Latette is located on 871 m above sea level. M., about 14 km east of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a depression on the plateau south of the Val de Mièges near the Jura mountains of Haute Joux.

The area of ​​5.89 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by a plateau, the average at 880 m above sea level. M. lies. It rises to the south gradually, has only very small differences in relief and is mostly covered by meadows and pastures. On a knoll near the homestead Grange du Fresne is 971 m above sea level. Neighboring communities of La Latette are Longcochon and Mignovillard in the north, Cerniébaud the southeast, Fraroz in the south and Rix in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages La Latette belonged to the rule Nozeroy. The village was drawn in 1639 by plundering the Duke Bernhard of Saxe- Weimar affected. Together with the Franche- Comté reached La Latette with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 84 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Latette one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 217 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Latette was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and livestock village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector there are no jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Bief -des- Maisons after Mignovillard. Further road links exist with Rix - Trébief, Longcochon and Cerniébaud.
