La Mer is a French short film from 1895 by Louis Lumière. This film is one of the first commercially pre- led films of the Lumière cinematograph. His debut film on December 28, 1895 along with other films in the Salon India Grand Café in Paris.

Movie Plot

The film shows how four men and a woman diving with a jump from a pier into the sea and repeat this process several times.

The film was shot on 35mm film in the aspect ratio 1.33:1 with a cinematograph.

During the filming shots the weather was very stormy, this can be seen from the filming. The film was released in America under the title The Sea. It is thought that the film was also released under the title Baignade en mer.
