La Neuvelle-lès-Lure

La Neuvelle -lès -Lure is a town in the French department of Haute- Saône in the Franche-Comté region.

Geography

La Neuvelle -lès -Lure is located at an altitude of 315 m above sea level, 6 km northeast of Lure and 32 km east-northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, in the plane of Lure both sides of the Ognon, near the western foot of the Vosges.

The area of ​​4.88 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Lure. The Floodplain on the edge of the Vosges is on average 310 m. It is traversed by the river Ognon that flows with multiple turns through a formerly swampy lowlands after south-southwest. The valley is mainly used for agricultural purposes. West of Ognon ranges of communal land to the edge of the terrace of Saint- Germain. At 336 m is reached on the corridor Le Bourset in the far north, the highest peak of La Neuvelle -lès -Lure. The area consists of sand and gravel sediments that were deposited during the Pleistocene in advance of the Vosges glacier. With a narrow strip, the municipality's area extends south to the edge of the forest of the Grand Bois and encompasses the bulk of the runway facilities of the former airfield Lure Malbouhans. The site is currently being put to a new use.

Neighboring communities of La Neuvelle -lès -Lure Montessaux are in the north, Saint -Barthélemy and Malbouhans in the east, La Côte and in the south of Roye and Froideterre and Saint- Germain in the West.

History

Remains of Roman traffic route that led from Luxeuil by Mandeure, and a bridge over the Ognon point to a very early settlement of the area. In addition, silver coins and the foundations of a Gallo-Roman estate were discovered. Is first mentioned Neuvelle in 1209 under the name of Nova villa, which means as much as a new village. From a later period that the name Novale is preserved. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Attractions

Local attractions include two Oratoires from red sandstone. One of them houses a statue of St. Anthony ( 16th century).

Population

With 336 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Neuvelle -lès -Lure is one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 451 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Neuvelle -lès -Lure was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Saint- Germain after Malbouhans. Further road links exist with Froideterre and Montessaux.
