La Neuville-Sire-Bernard

La Neuville- Sire -Bernard ( Picard: L' Neuville- Sire -Bernard ) is a northern French village with 274 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Toponymy and geography

The 1146 referred to as Nova Villa La Neuville is located on the right bank of the Avre 4.5 km south-southeast of Moreuil at the department road D935 (formerly Route nationale 35). It is connected by a bridge with braches across the river. The river valley is partially swamped. The current municipal area also includes the area of Quiry -le- Vert and a part of Saint -Aubin -en- Harponval, which was abandoned after a fire in 1715.

History

The reign of La Neuville was dependent on the abbey of Corbie, until it was sold in 1229 to Bernard de Moreuil from which they took the additional name Sire Bernard. The church was destroyed in World War I for the most part. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
