La-ngu District

Amphoe La - ngu ( Thai: อำเภอ ละงู ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Satun. The Satun province is located in the west of the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Thung Wa which, Manang, Khuan Kalong and Tha Phae. All Amphoe located in the province of Satun. To the west lies the Strait of Malacca.

A large part of the coast of the county as well as several islands are part of the National Park Mu Ko Phetra and the National Park Tarutao.

History

La - ngu was one of the three original districts of Satun, he was initially a small district ( King Amphoe ) under the administration of Thung Wa When the pepper production declined in the 1910s in Thung Wa, attracted many locals in the agricultural district La - ngu. 1930 amended the Government to manage the changed economic situation by La - ngu classified up to a district and Thung Wa simultaneously transformed into a small district. The original seven Tambon 1944 were reduced to five. A sixth Tambon was established on 1 August 1978.

Management

Amphoe La - ngu is divided into six subdistricts ( tambon), which further into 64 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Kamphaeng ( เทศบาล ตำบล กำแพง ) is the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the Tambon Kamphaeng.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
