Action

In search of her runaway dog finds Patti, a somewhat dated circus woman living with her husband Walter in a trailer, an abandoned two- year-old girl and decides to take care of it. With the help of Tairo, a teenager who lives with his grandmother in an adjacent container, Patti starts looking after the child's mother and gives the girl a temporary new home.

In October 2009, La Pivellina was the opening film of the Viennale.

The Austrian Film Commission nominated La Pivellina as Austrian candidates for the award for best foreign language film at the Academy Awards 2011., But the film did not get shortlisted. At the award ceremony of the Austrian Film Prize 2011 followed nominations for directing and editing.
