La Recoleta Cemetery

La Recoleta Cemetery ( Cementerio de la Recoleta ) is in the same Recoleta district of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, one of the most expensive residential and commercial districts of the capital. He was resting place of many wealthy and prominent citizens. Here Argentine presidents were buried, professional athletes, scientists and actors; the most famous one Evita Perón.

History

The cemetery was established by the French engineer Próspero Catelin and in 1881 transformed Neoclassical by the Italian architect Juan Antonio Buschiazzo. Large families were some rows of splendid mausoleums cultivate a wide variety of architecture that have one thing in common: they should long bear witness to the earthly fame and wealth of the deceased. The paths are spacious and abundant with trees.

Not all of the mausoleums have the times well, at least one of an extinct family is today used as a public toilet, with layers of fresh toilet paper and hygiene products stacked high on the sarcophagi.

Unusual is the tradition of this cemetery that the name boards only the date of death, not the date of birth is noted. Unlike other cemeteries La Recoleta is not a urban retreat of rare animal species. For this alone already makes the immense number of semi- wild cats who gather in the evening at the main entrance to be fed there from some animal friends.
