La Romareda

The Estadio La Romareda is a football stadium in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, Aragon. It is the home ground of Real Zaragoza. It offers viewers 34 596 seats, visit on average per game, the stadium of 33,000 fans.

History

The stadium was opened on 8 September 1957, the game against Real Zaragoza and Osasuna inaugurated. At that time, the hosts won 4-3. Previously renovations were performed three times (1978, 1982, 1994). In 1982, the stadium was expanded to meet FIFA regulations, since it was intended as an official venue for the 1982 World Cup. There, three preliminary matches were held. Also during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, the stadium was the venue of several preliminary rounds and quarter final game. 1994 they built all standing in seating around.

The stadium has also been widely used for open-air concerts (such as Michael Jackson in 1996, Bruce Springsteen and Metallica 1999 2004).
