La Salle Parish, Louisiana

The La Salle Parish (French: Paroisse de La Salle ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In the census in 2010, the Parish had 14,890 inhabitants and a population density of 8.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The seat of the Parish Administration ( Parish Seat) is Jena.

The Parish is located northwest of the geographic center of Louisiana, is in the east about 60 miles from the Mississippi, located in the north about 120 miles from Arkansas and has an area of ​​1716 square kilometers, of which 100 square kilometers are water surface. History

La Salle Parish was formed in 1908 from parts of Catahoula Parish. The name goes back to Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle.
