La Toma, San Luis

La Toma or Cuatro de Julio is the capital of the department of Coronel Pringles in the province of San Luis in the west of Argentina. It is a mining center and is called the capital of the onyx stone ( Capital de la piedra Ónix ), because it will be processed in the workshops of the town to craft jewels.

History

La Toma was established in 1905 in connection with the arrival of the railway line.

Attractions

• El Parador Minero is a mineralogical museum in its showcases about 700 mineral species are exhibited around the world. The constantly growing through donation, purchase and exchange at international trade fairs collection brings the variety of colors of the stones is well expressed.
• Toma La Vieja, a historic Estancia, is the most important and most striking buildings of the town. It is located at the western exit of the main street " La Avenida Marmol Ónix ", is offered in the arts and crafts and jewelry shops in the Ónix.
