La Trinidad is a city in Nicaragua with about 11,000 inhabitants. It is located about 120 km north of the capital Managua and about 25 km southeast of Estelí in the department of Estelí.

La Trinidad is located in the mountainous highlands at an altitude of about 600 meters. In the region there are a number of extinct volcanoes. The place is surrounded by three mountains ( Oyanca, La Mocuana, El Atillo ). The municipality includes a number of smaller villages, so that the population has more than 20,000 inhabitants. La Trinidad is situated on the Panamericana and is therefore easily accessible by car and bus. At the decentralized districts often lead only narrow, not passable paths. The town has a hospital, a central library and 40 decentralized schools.

Main sources of income in the region are agriculture (corn, beans, vegetables) and the baker's trade. There is a bread factory. The farms are partially affected by drought, caused by El Niño. A part of the population works due to lack of local jobs in Estelí.
