La Turbie

La Turbie is a municipality with 3194 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Alpes- Maritimes in southeast France. It is located just above Monaco. Mayor since 2001 Nicolas Bassani.

History

The town was rebuilt with stones, most of which come from a Roman victory monument, the Tropaeum Alpium. It was erected BC 7/6 at the time of the Emperor Augustus on the occasion of victory over various Alpine tribes.
