La Tzoumaz

The village of La Tzoumaz belongs to the political community Riddes in the Swiss canton of Valais.

The resort is located between Martigny and Sion high above the left bank of the Rhone ( 1,500 m above sea level. M. ). The former name Mayens -de- Riddes, mayens Riddes, refers to the original use of the Alpine hamlet, namely the summer grazing of cattle. So are still herds of Eringer to see the typical Valais combat cattle breed.

The village has 200 inhabitants and today has more than 6,000 beds. Since the 1960s, the city was connected by the lift company Téléverbier with lifts and slopes at the ski resort of Verbier. Thanks to the terraced hillside location most units have a clear view. An attraction for families is the 10 km long toboggan run, one of the longest in Switzerland, which is reached by gondola. There are also several snowshoe trails. The ski runs are varied and lead to up to 7 km in length Savoleyres back to the village. In addition, a secured but ungroomed alpine ski route from Les Attelas ( 2'727 m above sea level. M. ) above Verbier performs Vallon d' Arbi the untapped with over 1200 m height difference to La Tzoumaz.

In summer there are many hiking and mountain bike trails, as well as the ' path of the senses ' ( Sentier des sens ). The village has a public indoor pool with a sauna and an outdoor natural ice rink.
