La Voivre, Haute-Saône

La Voivre is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Voivre situated at an altitude of 352 m above sea level, 12 km east of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 37 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northeastern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges, in the broad Talniederung of Breuchin.

The area of ​​11.87 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape criss-crossed by valleys on the western edge of the Vosges. From east to west, the area is crossed by the Alluvialniederung of Breuchin, which provides drainage for Lanterne. The alluvial plain, through which the river attracts many turns, is on average 350 m and has a maximum width of two kilometers on. It is used for agriculture.

Is flanked Breuchin the valley to the north by steep wooded slopes of the Côte de Breuche that leads over to the adjacent plateau. With 521 m is reached on the Faucogney le Bois, the highest peak of La Voivre. To the south, the municipality's area extends to the height of the Plateau des Mille Étangs. The landscape is divided into valleys and hilltops. It shows a loose structure of pastures and woodlands, heaths and moors. In hollows are numerous small lakes which are mostly natural origin and during the ice age caused by glacial striation. The largest lakes are Etang de Pierre - Plate, Etang mom and Etang des Grands- Prés. Some ponds have been created by the monks since the 11th century for fish farming or jammed up. In geological- tectonic terms, the plateau partly from sandy- marly layers of the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ), partly crystalline bedrock is built. In valleys and on the plateaus are found glacial deposits from the Pleistocene.

At La Voivre addition to the actual site include several hamlets settlements and farms:

  • Breuche (360 m) at the northern edge of the valley of Breuchin
  • Anne Gray ( 372 m ) in a Talnische south of Breuchin
  • Les Vigenas (380 m ) in a Talnische south of Breuchin

Neighboring communities of La Voivre are amont -et- Effreney in the north, Faucogney -et -la -Mer in the east, and La Lanterne Écromagny -et -les- Armonts in the south and Les Fessey and Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois in the West.

History

At Anne Gray Columban was in the period around the year 600 and founded a small monastery here. Remains of a burial site from the Merovingian time at Anne Gray were also found. The place name Voivre goes back to the Gallic word vabero (Bach). In the Middle Ages La Voivre belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. A part of the municipality was under the monastery of Luxeuil. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Voivre is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Mille Étangs.

Attractions

From the former monastery at Anne Gray foundation walls have been preserved. Addition, there are a chapel with statues from the 17-18. Century and a cross from the 18th century. A chapel from the 19th century is located at Breuche.

Population

With 142 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Voivre one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 643 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Voivre is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), forestry and fish farming embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Faucogney -et -la- Mer to Mélisey. Further road links exist with Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois, La Proiselière -et- Langle and La Lanterne.
