La Vounaise

La Vounaise is a village and formerly independent municipality in the district Broye the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 1981 La Vounaise was incorporated into Murist.

Geography

La Vounaise is located on 588 m above sea level. M., 6 km south-southwest of the district town Estavayer -le- Lac (air line). The village is in the valley of Bainoz (left side of the creek Petite Glane ) on the northern side of the stream, in Molassehügelland between Lake Neuchâtel and the middle Broyetal, in the north-western Fribourg plateau. The former municipality area was around 1.5 km ². The area stretched from Bainoz northward over the height of Le Carronet ( 652 m above sea level. M. ) to the north in adjacent Waldtälchen on the edge of the Bois des Bruyeres.

Population

With around 90 inhabitants ( 1980) La Vounaise counted before the merger of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. At La Vounaise included some individual farms.

Economy

La Vounaise still lives by agriculture, especially from agriculture and the dairy industry. In a quarry north of the village earlier shell sand stone was mined.

Traffic

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Estavayer -le- Lac to Murist. By Bus Transports Publics Fribourgeois, serving the hinterland of Estavayer -le- Lac out in a circular course, La Vounaise is connected to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1320 under the name Vounesy and Vounezi. Later, the names Vonnaise (1668 ) and Vonayse and Vounise published. The place name is derived from the patois expression vaunaise ( bad ground).

Since the Middle Ages La Vounaise belonged to the manor La Molière. After Bern 1536 had conquered the Vaud countryside, the village came under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick font has been allocated. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) La Vounaise belonged during the Helvetic Republic and the subsequent time to the district Estavayer before it was incorporated in 1848 in the District Broye. With effect on 1 January 1981 La Vounaise was incorporated into Murist.
