Laarbeek

( Listen? / I ) laarbeek is a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The municipality was created on 1 January 1997 by the merger of the former municipalities Aarle- Rixtel, Beek en Donk and Lieshout. The channel Zuid- Willemsvaart crosses the area. The Wilhelminakanal begins in the community between Aarle- Rixtel and Beek en Donk. It runs above Eindhoven and Tilburg until after Oosterhout.

Name of the municipality

The community name " Laarbeek " was selected on 8 March 1994 from many names. The inhabitants of the former municipalities that make Laarbeek was formed, could submit a new name for the church. Other suggestions were: Beek en Donk, Bextelhout, Groenewoud, Grotendonk and Laarlanden.

The name Laarbeek is a joining of the word elements ' Laar ' (named after "Het Laar ," which forms the center of the village ) and " Beek " (named after the various streams that flow through the town ).

There is also the name Laarbeek from parts of the former municipalities:

  • " Beek " comes from Beek en Donk
