Laban (Bible)

In the first book of Moses ( Genesis ) of the Old Testament is Laban ( לָבָן "white", Hebrew Lavan, also: Laban ) the brother of Rebekah and the father of Leah and Rachel. As such, he is a brother of Isaac, and two-time father of Jacob.

Laban was first mentioned in the biblical narrative gene from 24.29 to 60 EU, where he showed enthusiasm for the gold jewelry, the opposite took his sister for Isaac. He also played a key role in the arrangement of her marriage.

Significant time later Laban promised his younger daughter, Rachel, Jacob ( Rebekah's son ) in return for his seven years of service with him. However, this was a trap to instead marry him to his older daughter Leah. Jacob then served another seven years in return for the right to finally be able to marry his favored Rachel as a second wife, see Gen. 29 EU.
