Labette County, Kansas

Labette County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Oswego.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme southeast of Kansas, on the south by Oklahoma, is in the east approximately 45 miles from Missouri and has an area of 1692 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Neosho County, Crawford County, Cherokee County and Montgomery County.

History

Labette County was formed on 26 February 1867. It was named after the French word La Bette.
