Laborec Highlands

The Laborecká Highlands (literally Labortzer Bergland ) refers to a range of hills in the north- west Slovakia. It represents a part of the Low Beskid Mountains within the Carpathian Mountains and consists of flysch. It is bordered by Bukovské Hills in the east, Beskydské predhorie in the south and Ondavská highlands in the west and the Polish border in the north.

The ridges usually reach a height of 500-700 m nm, in the east and up to 800 meters. The highest point is Vysoký green with 905 meters.

The hill country is drained by the eponymous river Laborec flowing through the hill country middle. Some parts in the West, however, belong to the catchment area of ​​the Ondava.

In the area of the hill country is home to a Rusyn minority today. The only town in the hill country is Medzilaborce.
