Labrit

Labrit is a commune of 868 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Landes department in the region of Aquitaine; it belongs to the district of Mont -de- Marsan and Canton Labrit. The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park Landes de Gascogne on the banks of the river Estrigon.

History

Labrit was the center of Seigneurie Albret. The landscape Albret and his capital Labrit have the same etymological roots, the Latin leporetum which probably in turn from the Aquitanian word Laphurretum (see also: Labourd ) comes.
