Labská Stráň

Labská Stráň ( German Elbleiten ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north of the city of Decin in the Bohemian Switzerland and belongs to Okres Decin.

Geography

Labská Stráň is located on the right side above the Elbe Valley on the bins villages plateau is intersected north of the gorge of Sucha Kamenice ( Dürrkammnitz ).

Neighboring towns are Hřensko in the north, Janov in the northeast, Růžová in the east, and Arnoltice Bynovec the southeast, Podskalí in the south and beyond the Elbe Dolni Žleb in the West.

History

The village was established in 1400 on a cleared area in the woods of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. First mentioned was related to the rule Scharfstein place in 1467 as Rear Neudorf. Until the 17th century it was known as Neudorf and only in the course of the 18th century, the name Elbleuten or Elbleiten added gradually. Its inhabitants lived from agriculture and forestry.

During the rule of the family of Salhausen a property division and Elbleuten was came to the new rule Binsdorf. 1612 acquired the possession of Kaunitz and 1614 were followed by the Count Kinsky. After the assassination of Wilhelm Graf Kinsky night of the murder of Eger its possession in 1634 was confiscated.

New owner of the domain Binsdorf was the Imperial Field Marshal Johann von Aldringens and its successor, the Count Clary Aldringens they held up to the replacement of patrimonial regimes in 1848.

About the Elbe Valley was Franz Karl von Clary - Aldringens Create 1701-1711 a panoramic terrace with artificial grotto, to the southeast by, he led a straight avenue of Castle Binsdorf. This called the Belvedere lookout point is 158 m above the Elbspiegel and is considered the oldest of the Bohemian Switzerland. On the Belvedere theater performances and other festivities were henceforth organized for the guests of the Count.

After the fire of the castle Binsdorf in 1790 the Clary Aldringens moved their seat in the emerging spa Teplitz. On the Belvedere festivals were held now and after the Palm Sunday procession of solemn union of Smrtka was the Elbe valley.

1833 consisted of 59 houses and Elbleiten had 435 inhabitants. 1839 Belvedere was remodeled and received a second access. Instead of the theatrical mask to the arcade to the grotto made ​​of Elbleitener mason Johann Hegenbarth a stone coat of arms of the Counts Clary Aldringens. 1841 was the Belvedere a wooden guest house, which existed until 1857. In the years 1888 to 1889 at the Belvedere was a solid pub with accommodation. The architect was Edward Hegenbarth from Elbleiten, a brother of the painter Josef Hegenbarth.
