Lac d'Hourtin-Carcans

The Lac de Hourtin et de Carcans is about 57 km ², one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in France. It extends parallel to the nearby Atlantic coast for a length of about 18 km and a maximum width of about 5 km. In the north the municipality Hourtin bordering the lake, in the south of the town Carcans. In both places sand beaches exist, which are mainly used in the summer by tourists.
