Lac-des-Rouges-Truites

Lac -des- Rouges- Truites is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lac -des- Rouges- Truites is located on 940 m above sea level. M., around 17 km south-southeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The scattered settlement municipality extends in the Jura, in the north -east of the vast plateau of Grandvaux, east of Lemme, at the northwest foot of the heights of the forest Forêt du Mont Noir.

The area of ​​19.69 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northwestern part of the area occupied by the plateau of Grandvaux ( average altitude of 920 m. M. ). It shows only slight differences in relief and is mainly composed of meadow and pasture land. Large parts of the area have no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the porous limestone substrate. To the southeast, the communal land extends over a 150 m high ground level on the densely forested plateau of the Forêt du Mont Noir. This rough area is characterized by parallel ridges and intervening terrain, above ground septic wells. With 1181 m above sea level. M. is achieved the highest elevation of Lac- des- Rouges- Truites here. Characteristic of the plateau are the karst features such as sinkholes and karst fields. The territory of Lac -des- Rouges- Truites is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut- Jura.

The scattered settlement of Lac -des- Rouges- Truites consists of several hamlets, groups of farms and hamlets, including:

History

The village was founded in the 14th century.

Attractions

The village church in the hamlet of Les Thevenin was built in 1870 in the Gothic Revival style. In the various hamlets numerous farms characteristic of the high Jura from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved.

Population

With 371 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lac -des- Rouges- Truites one of the small towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 551 persons were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lac -des- Rouges- Truites was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially livestock and dairy farming, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a sawmill. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It lies on the main road D437, which runs from Saint -Laurent -en- Grandvaux to Pontarlier. Another road connection with Fort-du- Plasne.
