Laughter is a municipality in the district of the canton of Schwyz March in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality laughter is at the upper end of Lake Zurich, the so-called upper lake. The highest point is 420 meters above sea level, the lowest 406 m above sea level ( Above sea level). The community area is 519 hectares (5.2 km ²), of which 54.7 % of Lake Zurich.

Economy

Laughter is the seat of the pharmaceutical company Octapharma. The Estée Lauder Companies maintains laughter in a production facility for perfumes.

Tourism

In the background, the distinctive peaks of the Alps Wägitaler, invites laughter not only for swimming in Lake Zurich or an impressive boat trip one, but is also a popular starting point for easy walks to extensive mountain or ski touring and challenging climbs.

Traffic

There are bus services towards rich castle and Pfäffikon. The station has connections to Zurich: Swiss Federal Railways and towards brick bridge. History

Lachen on the upper lies in a natural bay and had acquired a great importance for the trade market early because of its important geographical location.

The name of laughter comes from the Latin " ad Lacum » from, which means as much as " the lake ".

The Lachner Primarlehrer Marzell Stählin wrote on the town laugh many poems, which in 1985 in the book " Mys village on Sey " were published.

Parish Church of Holy Cross

The Holy Cross Church was built in 1707-1711 by Peter Thumb, along with his brother Gabriel. The plans and the employees are attributed to the hermitage architect brother Caspar Moosbrugger ( 1656-1723 ). In hermit monastery archives are still five unused plans Moosbrugger for Lachner parish church. The pilaster church with two towers is the first work upon conclusion of 26 years of Thumb. He is son of architect Franz Beer of bleached, through whose mediation he was commissioned, and the parish church of St. Martin in Tannheim (Württemberg ) he took suggestions. But crucial model was the Sanctuary Ellwangen -Schönberg (Baden- Württemberg), which built his father Michael Thumb 1681-1683.
