Lachlan River

The Lachlan River at Cowra

It rises 13 km east of Gunning in the highlands of New South Wales, a southern foothills of the Great Dividing Range. His most significant source rivers are the Belubula River and the Abercrombie River, which flow near Cowra, and the Morongla Creek.

The Lake Wyangala at Cowra was built to regulate the water flow of the Lachlan River. Since the Lachlan River as the south springing Murray River and Murrumbidgee River has its source not in glaciers and thus fails the spring thaw, he has an irregular watercourse. The annual runoff ranges from 1 million m³ 1944-10900 mcm 1950. In periods of drought he can throughout the year also result in no water, so from April 1944 to April 1945, at Murray River and Murrumbidgee River, this has never been observed since European settlement.
